Round two British Ocean Ski Series
Ocean Sports hosts the second leg of the British Ocean Ski Series at Carbis Bay on May 29th - race start 7PM. The race promises to be a good one with the best paddlers from around the country fighting it out for the top spot as overall British top dog! The course will be two triangular circuits in St’Ives Bay start from Carbis Bay beach - with the longest straight making for a fast down wind paddle. The shorter section hugs the stunning coastline of St’Ives on the way out to Coastguards Point (known as the ‘Island’ by locals). Open categories will race two laps (12km) while the under 19’s will make one lap of the Open course and the under 16’s will turn at the Island and follow the same root back.
Racing flat chat not your style? then there will be demonstrations of Hawaiian outrigger surfing of four and (hopefully) six man outriggers which anyone can join in – all that is needed is an ability to keep in time (ish) and swim! other than that feel free to contact me for further details.
Why not make a weekend of it? – Ocean Sports will be running on the water coaching clinics as well as outings surfing in the Hawaiian outrigger. If you fancing a dable of the weekend or honing those ocean skills this is the time to do it, please feel free to contact me or keep posted for more details closer to the event.
So far it is looking promising for a prize pool for all racers to enter and possible prize money on the Male and Female Open category – confirmation the event supporter will be made shortly.
All proceeds of the event are donated to the newly formed St’Ives Outrigger and Paddle Sports club for new kit and running of their new six man outrigger.
Please keep posted on the website for in depth detail of race logistics etc.
