Academy Squad Sat 5th…
Academy Training Squad: Venue confirmation
Just a quick heads up regarding this weekend’s squad training – as you are all probably aware the wind has picked up and will continue to do so throughout the weekend.
Wind strength is predicted at 32 knots gusting at 40 knots from the SW – wind strength is not a problem with a SW at Carbis Bay if we stay inshore however, other issues do present themselves.
These being travelling to the venue; if you feel it unsafe to drive then don’t! Also, when on the beach ensure kit is secured either on the car or pointing into the wind deck on the sand. I know that you all are well aware of this however, I must explicitly state the issues as an organiser.
On the day I will check conditions at first light, which at the minute is around 7am – at present, assume that conditions will be safe and that the session will be going ahead UNLESS OTHERWISE INFORMED BY A RELIABLE SOURCE – my text, phone call, Facebook, Twitter or Ocean Sports website.
If the session cannot be run at Carbis Bay there is no back up venue as a south westerly will also be hitting the south coast at Marazion in combination with a rather large swell. I am reluctant to move to Newlyn as some people struggled to attend last time around.
In short, any changes will be communicated at around 7am via the above sources. If Carbis Bay is unsuitable the session will be cancelled as the south coast this time is not an option. The exception will be for the more able paddlers scheduled later on in the day (this will be detailed on the morning).
If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate in contacting directly (me ‘ansom).
