Why train in the cold when you can do it without neoprene!

Warm Weather Training 2012

Bookings are being taking for next years warm weather training camp in Portimao, Portugal. Due to this years success we will be running two Camps next year – dates are: February 11th – 19th and April 1st – 15th.

Portimao is a perfect place to paddle – so much so the Italian, Swedish, German and British kayak squads use this venue on a regular basis.

With a perfect blend of flat water, downwind conditions, warm winter climate and fantastic facilities are all ingredients for an amazing short break away.

The camp has a maximum of nine spaces to ensure quality coaching throughout, coached sessions run twice daily focusing upon both tough physiological sessions and quality technique work. In between sessions advice seminars are tailored to meet the needs of the group covering a diverse range of performance components – for example hydration and nutrition strategies, mental training programs, strength and conditioning programs etc utilising the latest in sports science.

Its not all work and no play Portimao is within 20 minutes of the stunning fishing port of Lagos which makes for a perfect day excursion – or why not visit some of the more obscure coastal villages further down the coast.

Down time between sessions can be as demanding as you please – you are never far from a beach side cafe to maximise the winter sun.

After the success of this years camp (not simply by numbers – all those who attended went on to win either regional or national titles in ski!) we will be running an additional date for surf life saving and ocean ski specialists between February 11th – 19th and April 1st – 15th (these are windows of when the camp will run, camps will be for a maximum of five nights within this range).

Getting there:

Flights can be booked from either Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff and Brighton to meet your needs – travel time from Faro to Portimao is only 40 minutes leaving paddlers fresh and ready for action.
